  • The UF Statistical Center became the UF Computing Center (UFCC).
  • The 650 was replaced by a 709 computer.
  • Burton "Woody" Woodward was named Manager of the UF Computing Center (UFCC).

  • Ralph Selfridge was named Director of the UFCC.

  • A Calcomp Pen Plotter was installed in a 1401 system.
  • Support was added for remote terminals.

  • The 709 was replaced by an IBM 360/50 (.1780 MIPS).
  • Rate reductions were announced.
  • 504 jobs were run on Wednesday, Dec. 6 - a new record.

  • The UFCC moved from the farm area to the SSRB.
  • Interactive services were initiated (TCP, FLORTRAN, /RJE).

  • The Annex area opened in Johnson Hall.
