  • IBM 3820 laser printer removed from service
  • NERVM Termination Scheduled for March 1, 2001
  • Carol Wucker becomes NERDC's new Assistant Director for Finance
  • NERDC TSO session connect time rate reduced
  • GatorLink accounts can now be accessed via the WWW at http://webmail.ufl.edu
  • Virtual Tour of NERDC available online
  • UF Hosts Internet2 Day
  • UF First in Florida to connect ot World Wide IPv6 testbed
  • Upgrade boosts core of UF's Intranet to 1 Gigabit
  • New service for 800 number. NERDC's 800 number (800-217-4096) is now being provided by a dedicated Primary Rate Interface (PRI) circuit and now supports v.90 standard (56k).

  • Tim Fitzpatrick joins NERDC as new Director.
  • NERDC becomes UF Computing and Networking Services (CNS)
  • I-Phone IP Telephony Services available
  • Microfiche replaced by searchable computer CD (Metafile)
  • Halon system replaced by FM-200 system
  • IBM RS/6000 SP upgraded to AIX 5.2
  • IBM 9672-R36 upgraded to z/OS V1R4
  • GatorMail becomes UF's production webmail service

  • CNS Problem Tracking System launched.
  • Spam-detection filtering system (Spam Assassin) enabled.
  • Network services to the wall-plate available.
  • GatorLink mailbox size increased to 50 Mb.
  • CICS region consolidation implemented to save CPU consumption.
  • GatorMail (webmail) upgraded.
  • IBM 3422 tape drives (9-track) removed.
